As an industry leader, our client provides fibre optic products, engineering expertise and integrated services to the power transmission / distribution and telecommunications industries. Their project services department carries out and supports the installation of products worldwide, both as a prime contractor and in an advisory capacity. An opportunity has now arisen for a Field Engineer to join their team.

This is the ideal role for a highly motivated field engineer looking to further their career with an industry leader.

As a Field Engineer you will be responsible for providing installation training and support including monitoring installation quality. You will also site manage turnkey installations.

Controlling contractors' site activities, you will aid project managers in ensuring the timely completion of projects within budget. You will carry out site surveys and prepare risk assessments and job specific method statements.

Your duties will include:

- preparing and assessing site specific job requirements and preparing appropriate risk assessments and method statements
- climbing power utility transmission and distribution line towers to audit and train installation crews
- ensuring daily routine servicing of installation equipment
- providing feedback on machine operation, reliability and developments
- providing ongoing support for installations in-line with contract requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

- knowledge of the fibre optic and power and/or construction industry
- a full driving licence and passport

Flexible and adaptable, you must also have the ability to manage an installation team.

Additionally, you will be PC literate with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, ideally MS Projects. The ability to travel for extended periods, approximately 4-5 weeks at a time is also essential.

Whilst not essential, the ideal Field Engineer will have taken an approved climbing or tower rescue safety course. Previous UK power utility authorisation is also an advantage, as is experience of working within a line crew.
