Software Development Engineer
The Company

SML is a maintenance consultancy based in Fleet in Hampshire whose focus is helping our customers to improve their
maintenance performance resulting in better uptime performance of their equipment. We provide both consultancy services
to support this drive as well as software solutions to monitor the system performance as well as helping to define the
maintenance activities. Our focus is to provide a process through software solutions that simplify the overall management
process and delivers sustainable system improvements. We aim to be our customer's equipment reliability partner of
choice.

The Software Development Engineer Role
As part of the growth of the company we have identified a role for a person who can support our customers by implementing
our software solutions on their sites. In addition to this they will be responsible for identifying and defining
additional features for our products to help meet and exceed our customer requirements. This Software Development
Engineer role requires an in depth understanding of our products and how they work under the covers, in order to help
develop them further and to enhance our reputation of exceeding customer expectations. In addition to software
development activities this role also includes the testing of the software prior to its release to our customers, as well
as customer training.

The Requirements
We would require a degree level candidate (BSc, MSc, BTech, BSeng or BComp). We use Visual Studio 2008 and 2010, and we
would expect the candidate to have skills and be proficient in some of the following areas:
* Object-oriented programming
* MS C, C++ or C# with WPF
* MS SQL
* Silverlight
* Web development
* MS Office packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Visio and Project)

As this Software Development Engineer role will be customer facing, we would also expect the candidate to be able to
articulate themselves clearly in English and have an open friendly personality. The ability to communicate in other
European languages would be an advantage.

The Package
This role is based out of our office in Fleet, Hampshire and will require some travel to and from our customer sites. All
business travel costs will be reimbursed. It attracts a salary of between £24k and £27k per annum depending on
experience, with 20 days leave per year.
